Welcome to the World of Cryptocurrency Mining
Are you an adventurous miner looking to explore the depths of the cryptocurrency mining world? If yes, then you will enjoy today’s article where we delve into a comparison between the ks Z and the brand-new ks Z Pro, recently released by Ice River. The ks Z Pro, touted as the upgraded sibling of the original ks Z, has been making waves in the market. Let’s dive into the details together and see how the two versions stack up against each other.
The Legacy of the Ice River ks Z
Within the last few weeks, Ice River released a new version of their original ks Z. The legacy version has been a staple for miners, especially those who favor minimal changes, retaining its default settings. This model achieves approximately 100 gigahash, and the Watts consumed are 68.9 or 68.4, a little above Ice River’s advertised 65 Watts on their website. Surprisingly, its power consumption is equivalent to a single light bulb, making it efficient and sustainable.
Ice River ks0 Performance and Yield
As of November 13th, without considering electric costs, the Ice River ks0 yields about .92 per day in Caspa. This means that the total yield currently is just over 23 Caspa. However, let’s add a more exhilarating twist: comparing this guy with the ks0 Pro. Before we venture further into the deeper mines, it’s noteworthy that the original Ice River ks0 runs quite hot. From the surface temperature, it reads from 101 to 108.1 Fahrenheit, which can be a cause of concern for miners.
Unveiling the Prodigy: Ice River ks0 Pro
The packaging is typical for Ice River, and with every new unit, you get a fancy smancy adapter. This new version, ks0 Pro, is equipped with a power supply that supports 120 watts. Though this increased power capacity might raise eyebrows given the unit’s compact size, the performance it delivers is impressive.
Identifying ks0 Pro Features
The ks0 Pro, compared to its predecessor, the original ks0, comes with a few functional changes. One primary difference is the ethernet and USB ports are now located on the front side of the unit. The back houses a type-c Port for power, and an SD card slot, a feature missing in the regular ks Z model.
Checking the Performance of ks0 Pro
Having set up and connected the ks0 Pro, we can now delve into its detailed performance review. The Ice River ks0 Pro is priced at $429, excluding shipping and import tax. Though expensive, the device constitutes only 100 Watts, a little more than the ks0 but still sustainable for long-term use. Ice River’s website quotes it to achieve “200 gigahash plus or minus 10% and 100 Watts plus or minus 10%”.
Comparing the ks0 and the ks0 Pro
Considering an approximate electric cost of 10 cents, the original unit yields $1.76 income per day while the ks0 Pro earns $3.60 per day. Even at 5 cents, the profits remain commendable. The ks0 Pro, having higher wattage and yield, undeniably provides robust performance and ample earnings.
Maximizing ks0 Pro Usage
However, the peculiar thing about the ks0 Pro is that despite its size, it can heat up to 124-degree Fahrenheit or 50-degree Celsius, significantly hotter than the ks0. To ensure the device’s safety and longevity, it is advisable to equip the unit with a 120 mm fan, the AC Infinity multifan being a popular choice.
Conclusion
Conclusively, while both the Ice River ks0 and the ks0 Pro provide excellent performance for cryptocurrency mining, the ks0 Pro steps up the game with higher yield and power, despite the extra heat. Although the price is a bit steep, the return on investment, especially in terms of Caspa yield, makes it a worthy investment.
Do your due diligence, consider the additional costs and make the most informed decision. Most of all, enjoy the thrill of mining and the yield of your efforts. If you opt for ks0 Pro, ensure you have extra cooling measures in place to cater to the heat it generates. Keep mining and exploring!
It is about the same temperature as that bulb you pointed to.
Thank you BP for your commitment to Kaspa, and as always great and informative video , 2024 is the year I want to grow my mining farm
Already obsolete
🔥😎🔥
is the screw use to mount the fan included ? If not which type of screw you use?
that's fucking hot 🔥
Don’t tell us you made video without telling us HOW MANY kASPA it mined!!!???
So 200Gh is only making 46 Kaspa a day? I’m making almost 30 a day with 3 GpUs ; I got receipts
Hobbyist are you adding fans to the power supply brick on this unit? I noticed they are super hot too and its concerning.
Just checked in with the new batch of KS0 Pro's – Hobby2023 still works for a little discount 🙂
Mining in all cases always gets harder/less profitable. Probably better to just buy Kaspa
Be great to find a way to heat up your water system or pool with these hotter units, great vid and true concerns there for the heat and its waste.
just watched this and a video from Your friend andy… looks like im a little late to the party… hard to find one
Kaspa mining is quickly going to hell. PH will hit 100 in a couple of days.
Not woth it
You could use thermoelectric (stove) fan with peltier, it's not use electricity just the heat power for work 🙂
sold out in 2 weeks complete bs
What the référence of the usb fan please ?
The email I got says it does not include PSU. What does that mean? What is PSU? Thanks!
Why not just buy $500 KASPA ? Your ROI will be 3 months. No electric cost, no maintenance etc. These miners will die as soon as difficulty level increase.
We cannot buy it in Turkey, let me know if you are thinking of giving it as a gift 🙂
Are you still solo mining or is pool mining better now?
Just ordered 2 off aliexpress and thinking of ordering a 3rd from Iceriver. Iceriver has Dec batch now and aliexpress ones were Nov batch
Runs hot? News flash genius…103F is barely above body temperature. Also, the manual clearly says to place them horizontally, not on their side!! Did you get dropped on your head a lot as a kid?
Did iceriver take away the ability of entering coupon codes?!
I noticed the fan speed wasn't at 100% could be why it's so hot as well.
Thank you for video, ordered 3 of them on the 15th, wasn't sure about temperatures so I order the 120v 120mm fans
So with the added fan, did you just plug the usb into the miners usb slot?
What are the additional costs after the original purchase for these for us in the United States? What could one expect to pay past the cost of the KS0 and shipping?
Not worth buying any of them it’s okay now but more people buy the less Casper you earn it’s happened couple times with me with other mining products if the coin keeps going up, then will be fine but if it drops 😢
Hey mate,
how about just putting a normal oscillating fan , directing into the direction of the KS0 Pro? would that help instead of installing that small fan?
where can you cash out kaspa as a US citizen?
Great video as always Hobbyist! Love the KS0 Pro! But it does run HOT 🔥 🔥 🔥 😮
THank you for your worthy work!!! i bought yesterday 2 x kso Pro .. My rookie question : 'Can i collect all kaspa coins into one account? Or two machine needs two seperate account? ' Thank you.
After adding the additional fan did it raise performance of the unit at all?
Thanks for this video. I might get the 120 mm fan for cooling using your link. I'm still waiting for the KS0 Pro to arrive.
Want to buy two. For a total beginner do I need something else to run the the 2 ks0 pro besides lan cables to my modem? Thank you
Is the Miner equally hot on both sides?
overclock it and put 4 pc fans on it and it is cool to the touch
HOBBYIST2023 doesn't seem to be working
Thanks for the video, My KS0 Pro is on the way to go with my KS1, Does the KS0 Pro can with a plug from North America (type B) or do i have to purchase one ?
Have anyone order from the website recently. Want to make sure it is legit.
When you are taking those temps on the KS0's, what are your fan settings? I have mine set at 75% with no addition fan.
