Mining Disrupt 2024 and Ice River Team

During the Mining Disrupt 2024, I had the chance to approach the Ice River team, who had put on display their devices. The Ice River team, especially Ray, had been fantastic throughout the event, and I couldn’t resist the offer of buying one of their display models. These guys were kind enough to let me buy the Ice River KS5 L model; I bought it with USDT ERC20 right off the floor and had it shipped home.

Unboxing the Ice River KS5 L

The Ice River KS5 L comes with a fresh off the assembly line look, and is compact enough to not have you worrying about finding the right space. Some of the key features include the SD card slot, the reset button, the Ethernet port, and a couple of 120 RPM fans. Inside, it sports two power supply fans and a toggle switch. The model is marked right on its side, the 12 terahash model, and its output seems great.

Cryptocurrency Stickers

Alongside, the box included a bunch of cryptocurrency stickers which read innovative and light-hearted messages such as ‘Bitcoin was the Caspa test net’ and ‘crypto mining should be accessible to everyone’. I plan on sticking them on my workbench in my ASIC shed.

Features and Profitability

The Ice River KS5 L has a hash rate of 12 terahash at 3400 Watts. As for the miner’s profitability, at the time of mining, the Caspa crypto was shooting upwards and had been doing extremely well for a crypto that’s relatively new. Taking into account the number of miners released regularly and the Caspa emission schedule, the output estimate sits at $462 daily, based on a $0.10/Kw hour electricity rate.

Where to Buy Ice River KS5 L

If you are looking to buy any of the Ice River models, I’d recommend ASIC Marketplace which offers more latest models at considerably rational prices. For example, the Ice River KS5 L is priced at $5,139, inclusive of the import tax and shipping. Just make sure you’re shopping from reputable sellers to avoid surprises on hefty import taxes.

Upper Hand on the Ice River KS5 L over previous models

The Ice River KS5 L seems to be a step-up from the previous ASIC miners like the KS3 M series. Surprisingly, even after doubling the total hash rate from the previous models, it only consumes 100W more power. Due to this phenomenal power efficiency, despite being loud while operating at around 80dB, it still manages to hold a great appeal to miners around the world.

Shipping and Discount Code

Ray, over at Ice River, mentioned that they start rolling out the deliveries over the first 2 to 3 weeks of the first batch. That being said, if you’re looking to grab one, you can purchase online and avail yourself of an $80 discount at checkout using the provided code.

Trustworthy Hosting Facilities in the US

For mining enthusiasts based in the United States looking for a reliable hosting facility, I recommend Black Ops Mining. Located in Central Arkansas, Black Ops Mining is run by a group of knowledgeable and professional individuals. They also offer incredible deals on Miners and Hosting, so make sure to mention that Hobbyist Miner sent you while contacting them.

In conclusion, the Ice River KS5 L stands out with an impressive hash rate and stands head-to-head with top competitors, owing to its efficiency and performance. With its improved design, this unit promises a high return on investments and is undoubtedly a device worth considering.

  1. after the experience I've had with the ks3m, I'll never buy another unit from iceriver. worst qc I've ever seen. not to mention the corners cut. I had to replace the thermal paste after less than 3 months. boards dropping, chips failing, psu failed in 2 months.
I hope yall have a better experience

  2. 6:58 Well you gotta tell us how much they charged ya… Lol And talking about customs duties DHL did charge me a hundred bucks for my Ultra.. As a side note DHL is the worse for this as their fees are the highest…also Iceriver is not willing to lower the declared value either.

  3. I bought two of these to be hosted with Iceriver. Sometime after July 10 they should go online. Love to see your unboxing because I won't see my KS5L's until I one day have them shipped to me. 🙂
