The Canyon Avalon Nano 3: A Complete Review

In the world of Bitcoin mining, many miners are always on the lookout for efficient and cost-effective ways to mine this valuable cryptocurrency. One recent release that has excited the mining community is the Canyon Avalon Nano 3, a compact and pocket-friendly Bitcoin miner. This article will provide a comprehensive review of the Canyon Avalon Nano 3, its features, setup, and performance.

What is the Canyon Avalon Nano 3?

The Avalon Nano 3 is a Bitcoin miner developed by Canyon. What makes this miner special, aside from its compact size and relatively low cost of $99, is its efficiency and convenience for home use. With a hash rate of 4 terahash and consuming only 140 watts, this Bitcoin miner has become one of the best choices for home Bitcoin miners.

Unpacking the Avalon Nano 3

Upon unboxing the Avalon Nano 3, you will find a user-friendly manual, the device itself and a few stickers that give more information about the product. The miner comes in a variety of colors, and this review focuses on the white version. On the miner, you will find a power and mode switch, which is essentially the hash rate mode switch.

The Avalon Nano 3 also features a power input for a USBC cable, an interesting addition, as not many miners use this type of power connector.

Design and Build of Canyon Avalon Nano 3

The Avalon Nano 3 boasts a compact and robust design, featuring an intake side and an exhaust side for effective heat dissipation. Upon closer inspection, you can see the miner’s heat sink, the intake and exhaust, and a significant amount of thermal paste. This miner employs thermal paste to improve heat transfer between the computer components and the heat sink, helping to keep the miner running smoothly.

The Setup Process

Setting up the Avalon Nano 3 is straightforward with the provided user manual. You’ll need to source a power supply as the unit does not come with one. The recommended power supply is a 140W unit with a USB-C connection at both ends and a PD 3.1 standard. After setting up, connect the miner to your home’s wireless network, and you’re good to go.

Performance of the Canyon Avalon Nano 3

After running the Avalon Nano 3 for 24 hours, the miner was remarkably quiet, with a noise level of around 40 decibels. As for power consumption, the miner was running at around 105 watts on medium mode, slightly below the advertised 140 watts on high mode.

However, one thing to note during operation was the high temperature of the power supply. It reached an alarming 161 degrees Fahrenheit, which may be a concern when considering safety measures. While this may be due to the power supply being aftermarket, it is noteworthy and could use further investigation.

In Conclusion

The Canyon Avalon Nano 3 seems to be a promising entry into the world of Bitcoin mining. Despite its compact size, this miner delivers impressive performance, making it ideal for those who want to mine Bitcoins at home. The miner’s convenience, low power consumption, and the excitement of solo mining make the Avalon Nano 3 a potentially attractive option for the mining community.

However, potential buyers should note the issue of the high temperature of the power supply. One can only hope that the power supply bundled with the miners in the future will address this concern.

All in all, despite its shortcomings, the Canyon Avalon Nano 3 still holds potential value for Bitcoin miners, especially for those looking to start solo mining. You might consider giving this compact and competent miner a try and see how it fits into your mining setup!

  1. Спасибо за информацию. Немного не по теме: как можно перевести деньги(USDT) на карту, если у меня есть только фраза: scrub know faith win siren become slot notice chuckle shift few extra

  2. I just got mine. And it works. Easily connects to Braiins pool mining, and off you go. I will make 25 cents a day! lol. I didn't solo mine. But as something to interest myself in, priceless. Bought a "dericam 140w" powerblock off Amazon with a high watt cable. It gives off heat, but not all that much. Not all that loud. In reality, it's something to do with checking the app and watching the cents pile high!

  3. I ordered 2 , my numbers were 2456 and 3358 , I received 2456 and it has been up 24 hours now.
The first day it pool mind 218sats in 18 hours today I will get a metric on a ful 24 hour pool mine

  4. I will be forever grateful to you, you changed my whole life and I will continue to preach on your behalf for the whole world to hear you saved me from huge financial debt with just a small investment, thank you, Ms Amelia Harper,

  5. I ordered mine did not come with a cord never able to get it set up and it still doesn’t work. Been a big pain in the butt plus it ended up costing almost $200. They tacked on a bunch of fees.

  6. I watched your and Red Panda's videos. You guys are using plugs that don't have the firmware for Nanos. Yes you will most likely burn your house down! lmao… I got 2 I am old Ill take the chance I wont be around when it hits a block!! lmao…

  7. I've have one for a couple of months (plus another just shipped) and got the official 140W PSU bundle. It works on high mode just fine, getting just over 4TH/s, and the PSU gets warm but not frighteningly hot. They are great if you need a quiet desktop heater that will run for free and may even earn a little extra $$ over time.

  8. I ordered 4 with PSU they run quietly and efficiently. 16Th/s total. I ordered 3 more to get 28 Th/s. The Canaan PSU gets hot but it is a lot farther away from the plug than the one in your video. I think it is a must to purchase their PSU to get 4 -4.19 Th/s. I'm using them for BCH. They at least mine payout with 2.
