Mining Hobbyist’s Journey after 4 Months
What began as a hobby in February 2021 has now grown into a passion for me. From a solitary start with a solo MSI 970 mining raven coin at nine mega hash, I have gone ahead in just three and half months to mining with 18 GPUs. Today, I have hit over half a million views on my YouTube channel, achieved over 6200 subscriptions in less than four months, and published 65 videos to guide other miners and enthusiasts.
From my Monitor to Yours – Sneak Peek into my Mining Set up
Here is a quick overview of the hardware I am currently using at my mining castle: I am operating with 11 Sapphire Nitro RX 470s, one Sapphire Nitro RX 570, all having a 4 gig hardware. I also employ a Sapphire pulse RX 588 gig card in my machine. Additionally, in the cabinet’s back, there is an EVGA 2080 super XC, and in the front resides an EVGA 1066 gig card. The middle section houses the Nvidia GTX 1650 super and a Power color R9 380 from AMD takes up the front space. Plus, I have another R9 380 as my 19th card – all of these were purchased secondhand over the past few months.
Unexpected Expansion of my Mining Hobby into a Basement Renovation Project
What started as a mere pastime has led me to undertake a massive basement renovation project. My passion and dedication to the mining hobby have necessitated additional space to accommodate my mining set up. This entire room was added unplanned to my project plan over the last three months. I am now looking forward to installing big exhaust fans this week that will pipe the air up and out of the room.
Embracing Crypto Mining: My Success on YouTube
The evolution from being a hobby miner to a full-time passionate miner is encapsulated in my YouTube channel’s success. To give a clear perspective of my mining activities, here’s a quick rundown – My farm currently operates at a hash rate of about 122.6 mega hash for Ethereum, 171.6 mega hash for Ravencoin, and 19.59 mega hash for Ethereum Classic. The total wattage being utilized is about 1.774K. As for the electricity cost, according to my service provider PPL’s website, it is approximately 0.07317 per KWh.
As per my calculations, if the crypto prices stayed as they are today, my farm is slated to generate $14,319.25 this year. This translates to a monthly earning of approximately $1194.94 which includes the profits from Ravencoin and Ethereum earnings.
Hashrate Profits at my Farm: A Deep Dive into The Numbers
At Colossus, my first rig, the total profit from mining Ravencoin and Ethereum this year is expected to be around $9944.25. This includes $8822.05 from mining Ravencoin and $1123.20 from mining Ethereum.
As for my second rig, Havoc, the combined annual profit from mining Ravencoin, Ethereum, and Ethereum Classic is projected to be around $4375. I’m making approximately $3326.40 from Ethereum, $662.40 from Ravencoin, and $385.20 from Ethereum Classic annually.

Dumb question… but looking to build a rig seeing as I have 2 1070's and I just blew up my old motherboard mining cause I thought my 750 would handle it… What CPU do you currently have in your rig with the Asus B250… should I put my i5 3570k in it? Trying to reuse as much stuff as I can beside motherboard and PSU obviously…hoping my two GPUs still work after the surge/cpu pin blow out.
What would a similar set up cost to build out?

If you think a $1.07 is low wait till a bear market when the the average is 50-80 cents per card. You'd be happy to make over $1 a card.
